DESCRIPTION: The United States Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a four-year, worldwide, high school level program, developed to help students successfully transition into college, the work place or military service. Our mission is to better prepare young people to be productive members of society. We do this by helping them to apply the USAF Core Values of; Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do, to all aspects of their daily lives. By blending aerospace science, physical wellness and leadership/life-skills training into a seamless classroom environment, JROTC cadets better themselves as they contribute to their local community and prepare for their futures.
PURPOSE:
- To provide cadets with a four-year program which will explore civilian and military aviation and aerospace science and industry.
OBJECTIVES: ·
- To instill self-discipline, respect for authority and a desire to excel through teamwork and mutual support.
- To provide cadets, through classroom academic instruction, a balanced education in aerospace science while successfully meeting all necessary graduation requirements. To help nurture and develop individual leadership skills.
- To provide career education in military and civilian aviation.
OPPORTUNITIES:
- After school activities consisting of color guard and drill exhibition teams, honor guard, rocket club, and the Kitty Hawk Air Society.
- Uniform items issued at no cost to the cadet.
- Various field trips held throughout the year to NASA and military installations.
- For those who qualify academically, exclusive COLLEGE scholarship opportunities for JROTC cadets only.
- Voluntary entry into any branch of the United States military at a rank and salary two grades above other non-JROTC enlistees.
